The early years

Broderick began playing the guitar at age 11. He played everything from pop to rhythm and blues and from classical to jazz . Chris said that as a teenager, he played music for 14 hours one day every summer. He got up early in the morning, practiced five hours on an electric guitar , five on acoustics and two on a piano and violin . He noted that this was more like “routine work” rather than entertainment [1] .

He has become an outstanding musician on the Denver stage since 1988 , participating in bands such as Gray Haven and Killing Time.

He holds a diploma from the University of Denver in the classical guitar course.

Jag Panzer (1997-2008)

In 1997, guitarist Joey Tafoll left the band Jag Panzer for the second and last time, losing all interest in heavy metal and deciding to focus on jazz and fusion . This was a problem for the band, as the Tafolla guitar parts were very complex and technical. The remaining members knew few guitarists capable of playing the same way. One of them was Chris Broderick - so he got into the Jag Panzer.

It is not known exactly how the band members knew Broderick. According to one version, they saw a video presentation where he demonstrates his guitar playing skills, and according to another, Chris was familiar with Jag Panzer rhythm guitarist Mark Breeody .

One way or another, he was received with open arms and stayed in the group for a little over ten years, participating in the recording of four albums during this time.

Nevermore (2001-2003, 2006-2007)

Many mistakenly believe that Broderick was a regular member of Nevermore . But, in fact, he was a session musician, from 2001 to 2003, speaking at concerts. Following the release of This Godless Endeavor, Chris Broderick played with Nevermore again at concerts until his transition to Megadeth .

Megadeth (2008—2014)

At the end of 2007, rumors surfaced that Glen Drover was about to leave Megadeth. Rumors were confirmed by official statements by Glen himself and frontman Dave Mustaine .

The night after that, Megadeth drummer Sean Drover offered Mustaine to Chris's vacant seat. He showed a video where he plays electric and acoustic guitar . The video presentation made a definite impression on Dave and soon an official statement appeared that Chris Broderick had joined the group.

His first concert with Megadeth was on February 4, 2008 in Finland as part of the Gigantour tour. The first album with his participation is Endgame 2009 . In connection with the transition to this group, he had to leave Jag Panzer and Nevermore.

Dave Mustaine said that his acquaintance with Broderick reminded him of how “ Ozzy Osbourne met Randy Roads, ” and on March 8, 2009, he announced that Chris was Megadeth’s greatest guitarist in history [2] . with Sean Drover left the group due to musical disagreements [3] .

Act of Defiance (2014 - present)

After leaving Megadeth, Chris Broderick and former Megadeth drummer Sean Drover founded Act of Defiance [4] , along with former Scar The Martyr frontman Henry Derek Bonner, and Matt Bachand guitarist Shadows Fall .

Chris uses equipment from companies such as Jackson Guitars , Ibanez , Engl , Schecter Guitar Research , DiMarzio [5] and Dean Guitars .
