The flag of the US state of Delaware is a rectangular (2: 3 aspect ratio) cloth of the Blue Cadet color, in the center of which there is a buffalo diamond with the state emblem depicted on it. Under the rhombus is the inscription December 7, 1787 (December 7, 1787), reminiscent of the day when Delaware was the first state to ratify the US Constitution . The colors of the flag reflect the colors of the uniform of General George Washington .

The coat of arms, depicted in the center of the flag and also the basis of the seal of Delaware, was adopted on January 17, 1777. The shield depicts a sheaf of wheat, an ear of corn and a standing bull, symbolizing the agriculture of the two southern districts of the state. Above the shield is a sailing ship that links to the docks of New Castle County . Shield holders - a farmer to the left of the viewer and soldiers to the right.
The flag was adopted on July 24, 1913 . A similar flag was in military units from the state of Delaware during the Civil War . It was a blue cloth with the emblem of the state.
