Batia (Sparta)

Batia ( dr. Greek Βάττεια or Βατέα ) in the Spartan myths of ancient Greece, according to one version of the nymph ( dryad ), who gave birth to the Spartan king Oybalu ( Ebala ), sons: Tyndareus , Hippocount and Ikaria [1] :

There are authors who claim that ... Oybal was born from Perier, the son of Kinort, and Tyndari, Hippocoont and Ikari were born from Oybal and the mantle of Batia.

However, in ancient Greece there were several more versions of the origin of the Spartan king Tyndareus, earthly father of Elena the Beautiful. Pausanias and another version set forth by Apollodorus suggest that the mother of Tyndareus and Ikarius was Gorgofona , the daughter of Perseus and Andromeda , the wife of the Spartan king, the son of Kinort , the difference is that Apollodorus calls him Perier [2] , and Pausanius - Ebal (Oybal) [3] .
