There are many Danes in the village who serve the airport. Medical services are also provided by a doctor from mainland Denmark. The school, restored in 2005, is attended by about 70 students. All teachers working in it have higher education.
The church was built in memory of a Danish ship, which ran aground off the coast. Built from the logs of the vessel itself. Near the church there is a monument to the sunken ship. The cemetery is located about 200 meters from the center of the village. On the crosses there are no names according to the Inuit traditions, because they believe that the name of the deceased passes to another at the time of death and life for the next generation.
The unemployment rate is high, and many residents depend on tourism in addition to the more traditional hunting and fishing activities. In the village is the Kulusuk Hotel , which was built in 1999 and serves as a place of residence for tourists.
