The Wisconsin State flag is a rectangular blue cloth with a centrally located state seal, in the center of which there is an inscription in a circle “ E Pluribus Unum ” (from lat. - “Of the many - one”). The original version of the flag was developed in 1863 for regiments from Wisconsin who participated in battles during the US Civil War . In 1913, this flag became the flag of the state.
Since half of the flags of the US states have the same design - blue cloth with the state seal - to distinguish them from other similar flags, inscriptions were added to the flag in 1980. Above - WISCONSIN ( Russian Wisconsin ), below - 1848 , the year the state entered the United States.
