M2M Telematics is a company operating in the market of satellite transport monitoring since 2002. The company was created by a Russian businessman Alexander Gurko.

M2M Telematics is also one of the founders of the Association of Developers, Manufacturers and Consumers of Equipment and Applications Based on GLONASS / GNSS-Forum Global Navigation Satellite Systems [1] , according to which the company took a leading position in 2010, ahead of such competitors, such as RNT , Scout , Gurtam , ENDS and a number of other companies in the market of satellite transport monitoring. Company History
The company "M2M telematics" was founded in 2005 . [3]
In October 2009, the M2M Telematics Group of Companies acquired a controlling stake in NPP Transnavigation for 200 million rubles, one of its competitors, a manufacturer of information systems for ground (road and city electric) vehicles. [4] In December 2009, Alexander Gurko, Director General of M2M Telematics, was appointed Director of Navigation and Information Systems OJSC (NIS GLONASS) [5] .
In July 2010, the new head of the company was appointed - Alexey Smyatskikh. [6] At the same time, the Russian financial and industrial group Sistema JSFC began the takeover of M2M telematics, acquiring a 51% stake in the company for approximately $ 20 million. In February 2012, Sistema JSFC contributed a share in the authorized capital of NIS 51% of the authorized capital of M2M Telematics. Thus, NIS OJSC became a controlling participant in M2M telematics. In the spring of 2013, a conflict between shareholders led to a part of the company leaving the company, including the head of the company, Aleksey Smyatskikh [8] , who was replaced by the former general director of Moscow City Telephone Network ( MGTS ) OJSC Sergey Ivanov [9] . The same situation led to the emergence of a new player on the market - Space Tim .
In the summer of 2014, the company virtually ceased to exist. The de facto successor to the company is Space Tim .
Specialization and main activities of the company
The companies included in the M2M telematics group of companies develop and implement navigation and information systems, terminal equipment and software for use as part of regional, departmental and corporate intelligent transport systems:
- Development and implementation of monitoring and transport management systems for various purposes.
- Development and implementation of regional navigation and information systems in the interests of managing the transport complex of municipalities and constituent entities of the Russian Federation , including elements of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS).
- Development and implementation of automated planning and dispatch control systems for transport complexes of regions, cities, large transport enterprises and associations.
- Development of subscriber terminal equipment.
- Development of navigation GLONASS / GPS OEM modules.
- Development of specialized server and client software.
- Development and implementation of specialized applications, and the provision of information services based on satellite navigation.
- The provision of telematic services in the Russian Federation and the CIS .

Criticism
Problems with GLONASS implementation
In May 2010, M2M Telematics began to experience problems with the implementation of GLONASS monitoring in several regions of Russia. Due to the high cost of the system and the low quality of equipment software outages, some customers expressed dissatisfaction through the press and are terminating the contracts., Mnmn [10] [11] [12] [13] [14]
Impact on the prohibition of GPS equipment
In July 2010, shareholders of M2M telematics at a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Putin proposed to legally ban the import into Russia of equipment for navigation and monitoring with GPS, but without an integrated chip of the domestic GLONASS system. Moreover, not only equipment for satellite monitoring and navigation, but popular phones and smartphones that in the near future will not get a Russian analogue of GPS, are prohibited. Money theft at M2M Telematics North
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Arkhangelsk Region and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug found that for the period from July 1, 2009 to April 29, 2010, Vadim Mishchenko, the former CEO of the company, was appropriated about 400 thousand Russian rubles. Initially, the money was intended to pay salaries and bonuses to employees. The actions of Vadim Mishchenko were classified according to Article 145 part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (non-payment of wages). A criminal case has been opened. [nineteen]

2009 Results
In October, the leading manufacturer of modern information systems for ground (automobile and city electric) vehicles, ZAO NPP Transnavigation, joined the M2M Telematics group of companies. M2M telematics and NPP Transnavigation decided to pool their resources and capabilities in order to pursue a coordinated policy and joint activities in the application of satellite navigation based on GLONASS / GPS and information technologies in automobile and city passenger transport. 18 new Regional Dispatch Centers were opened in the largest regions of the Russian Federation and the CIS: Vladimir, Ryazan, Dubna, Izhevsk, Kostroma, Saransk, Ufa, St. Petersburg, Syktyvkar, Azerbaijan, etc.
2010 Results
The company "M2M telematics" in 2010 reached a qualitatively different level of business development. Following the innovation policy, M2M Telematics confirmed its status as an industry leader, achieved a competitive advantage in its product line and expanded its regional partner network, which includes more than 70 partners. As part of the M2M-BusinessSolution® program, 17 Regional Dispatch Centers (RDCs) were opened throughout Russia. Now M2M Telematics Group of Companies has the largest regional partner network. The rapid development of the company could not but affect the financial performance as a whole - by the end of the year, the revenue of M2M Telematics Group doubled, amounting to more than 1.1 billion rubles.
In 2010, M2M Telematics became a part of AFK Sistema , which allowed the company to obtain additional investment opportunities for further large-scale business development.
2011 Results
Deliveries reached 300 thousand devices, of which about 50% accounted for GLONASS / GPS chipsets developed by GeoStar Navigation.
“M2M telematics” took sixth place in the top 10 leading innovative companies in Russia, compiled by the American magazine Fast Company [20] .
In June, M2M Telematics took 15th place in the ranking of the largest IT developers in Russia [21] , compiled by CNews Analytic Agency. The assessment was carried out according to the size of the proceeds from the sale of our own developments.
Evgeny Belyanko, the main developer of GLONASS transport terminals, was dismissed [22] .
