Biography
Born on November 1, 1916 in Kremenchug (now Poltava region , Ukraine ) in the family of Mikhoel-Leib Gurariy (1881-1925) [1] . Since 1921 he lived in Moscow.
In the early thirties, he studied photography in the illustration department of the Izvestia newspaper.
Since 1934 - a professional photojournalist. Member of the CPSU (b) since 1942.
During the Great Patriotic War he was a front-line photo correspondent for Izvestia.
He shot on many fronts, he also happened to shoot such historical events as the Parade on Red Square on November 7, 1941 , the Yalta and Potsdam conferences, the Victory Parade in Moscow on June 24, 1945 .
Since 1946 he worked in publishing and trade union magazines, since 1956 he collaborated in the newspaper Trud . Filmed by Yu. A. Gagarin , leaders of the Soviet state , etc.
He died on December 7, 1998 in New York , where he lived in recent years. He was buried in Moscow at the Vostryakovsky cemetery . [2]
