The 2009-2010 season is the first in VTB United League history. It was attended by 8 teams from Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine and Estonia, divided into 2 subgroups. The winners of the subgroups played in the semi-finals with the teams that finished second in the groups. The final of four took place in Lithuanian Kaunas - at the альalgiris home arena, which together with three Russian clubs reached the final of four [1] .
