The Shrike Cotting [2] ( Latin: Laniisoma elegans ) is a South American species of passerine birds from the titrated family (Tityridae) [3] . Body length - 17-18 cm [4] [5] . The birds are inhabited by tropical and subtropical low-lying wet forests and mountain moist forests in northeast Brazil , at heights of up to 1800 meters above sea level [4] [6] [1] .

The male has an olive-green plumage of the abdomen and chest; head and forehead are black; throat bright yellow; feathers around the chest and sides of the abdomen are olive-green with black bordering. The female has an olive-colored forehead and head. All young birds have the color of plumage as in an adult female, but with red specks on the wings [4] .
Previously, the species was divided into 4 subspecies [1] , but in February 2018 all of them except the nominative ( L. e. Buckleyi, L. e. Cadwaladeri, L. e. Venezuelense ) were isolated in another species - Laniisoma buckleyi (PL Sclater & Salvin , 1880) [3] .
