Radiolarite

Mukait (a kind of radiolarite) from Western Australia . Exhibit of the Children's Museum of Indianapolis

Radiolarite is an organogenic sedimentary, usually deep-sea rock , more than 50% composed of skeletons of radiolarians .

The deposits of radiolarite can be found at the bottom of the seas and oceans. Skeletons of the victims of radiolaria, falling to the bottom, form radiolarian silt , which is part of sedimentary rocks. The so-called "infusorial earth", or tripoli , entirely consists of the skeletons of radiolarians.

Radiolarite is used in economic and industrial activities.
