Allmusic columnist Greg Prato commented on this album as “unmistakable” released by Metal Church, despite the fact that only Kurt Vanderhuft remained from the band that founded the group from the band members who participated in the recording of the album. Prato claimed that “A Light in the Dark” could easily be mistaken for releasing the thrash metal of the 1980s , like the songs “A Light in the Dark” and “Beyond all Reason”. Prato rated the album at 3.5 points out of 5. [3]
