Polovinka is a village in the Ust-Kut district of the Irkutsk region . It is located on the left bank of the Lena River at the confluence of the Polovinnaya River, 520 km from Irkutsk and 23 km from the center of Ust-Kut (by air).

Physico-geographical characteristics
Geographical position
Half is located in the north of the Irkutsk region in the eastern part of the Ust-Kut region on the left bank of the Lena River . The name of the village comes from the small river Polovinnaya, at the mouth of which it is located. The river was named so because it was halfway between the villages of Ust-Kut and Podymakhino .

Half are located in the Irkutsk time zone : IRKT = UTC + 8. Daylight Saving Time : IRKST = UTC + 9. The time difference with Moscow is 5 hours: MSK +5.
Climate
The climate of the village is sharply continental . The average temperature of January is β25 Β° C, July + 17 Β° C. The minimum temperature is β58 Β° C, the maximum (in the shade) + 42 Β° C.
The annual rainfall is 350 mm. In winter - in the form of snow. In the off-season (spring and autumn, as well as at the beginning and end of summer) hail is not uncommon.
The territory of the village is equated to areas of the Far North .
Relief and geological structure
The village is located on the territory of the Lena-Angarsk plateau, the relief is very dissected, the absolute heights of the area reach 700-800 m above sea level.
Soil cover
Soils are mainly sod-carbonate, sod-podzolic. Meadow and floodplain soils of medium and light loamy texture.
History
In 1943, Half was a village, the Kolos collective farm was located here. It was reported that the Komsomol of M. M. Antipin joined the movement of knitters-thousand-strongers and imposed 1580 sheaves each [2] .
December 22, 1973 in the village, by that time already dying, in the building of an abandoned school the first group of builders of the "Komsomol" BAM settled - 18 people, transferred from the newly handed line Khrebtovaya - Ust-Ilim . It was they who struck the first "winter road" in the direction of the highway to the Tayury River , where they prepared a site for the Komsomol members - the builders of the Zvyozdnaya station.
In the 1990s , there were no permanent residents in the village, and it became a holiday village.
Village status and name returned in 2007 with the advent of permanent residents. Then the village was assigned to the Podymakhinsky rural settlement [3] .
Transport
The nearest railway station is the Lena-East of the East Siberian Railway in the city of Ust-Kut. At a distance of 1 km, a dead-end railway line, used exclusively for household purposes, approaches the village.
Near the village there is a section of the Vilyui federal highway under construction. Bus links to Ust-Kut and Irkutsk . ( Kazarka route - Lena station .)
