Skard Ruins
Skard ( far. Skarð ) - an abandoned settlement on the Faroe Islands .
Skard is located in the northeast of the Faroe Islands, on the east coast of the island of Kunoy . Skard was inhabited by fishermen with their families. On December 23, 1913, all Skard's men died during a storm during fishing. After this tragedy, women and children gradually began to leave the village. In 1919, Scard left his last resident. One fishing boat that survived the misfortune of 1913 is stored in Christian's Church in Klaxwijk . A convenient road to Haraldzund passes through Skard along the coast.
In Skarde in 1873, Simun av Skardi was born, Faroese poet and teacher, author of the Faroe Islands anthem.
