Chronologically, the events of the film take place somewhere in the middle of the second part of the series, since Chibiusa already knows who the sailors are actually, but the action takes place in the present, not the future, and Mamoru and Usagi are together again (which corresponds to period 76— 82 anime series, but actions in them occur in the winter).

Story
Tokyo is attacked by a flowery monster, Wisteria , which begins to drain energy from people. The internal warriors manage to stop him, but then a new opponent appears - an alien along with a giant Xenian flower. They try to kill Sailor Moon , but at the last moment Tuxedo Musk appears and takes a hit on himself. An alien who has been familiar with Mamoru since childhood, takes his body to an asteroid , quickly approaching Earth to cure him there. It turns out that earlier Mamoru gave Fiore, this alien, a rose. Fioret promised in return to find a flower for Mamoru. In search of a suitable one, he traveled through the galaxy and encountered a Xenian flower that captured Fiore’s mind and now the alien decided to return to Earth and destroy the people who make Mamoru feel lonely. To do this, he is going to sow the planet with flowers that will suck the energy of people.
At the same time, the sailor warriors found out that Mamoru was on an asteroid, and went to rescue him. On the surface of the asteroid, a battle ensued, in which, after the intervention, Mamoru won the warriors. Fiore believed that Mamoru had betrayed him and destroyed all the flowers on the asteroid. At the same time, the asteroid was heading straight for Earth , and Sailor Moon decided to use the Silver Crystal to try to change the course of the asteroid and avoid a collision. The asteroid manages to break, but Usagi dies. Seeing that Mamoru is crying because of this, Fiore helps to bring Usagi back to life. After all the events, Fiore again becomes a child and peacefully returns to space .
Characters
Fiore ( Japanese フ ィ オ レ Fiore , Italian "flower" ) is one of the main opponents of the heroes in Sailor Moon R: The Movie. A lone alien, very attached to his friendship with Mamoru Jiba, who spent many years looking for a flower suitable for Mamoru. He flew to Earth at the time when Mamoru's parents died. Then they became friends, but the atmosphere of the Earth was inappropriate for Fiore, so he had to leave the planet. Mamoru gave him a rose goodbye, and Fiore decided that someday he would return with a suitable flower for Mamoru. A search for a flower led him to a Xenian flower.
Fiore in Italian means flower. According to the Bishōjo Senshi Sērā Mūn R Movie Memorial Album, director Kunihiro Ikuhara noted that Fiorieiru’s full name in the script is Fiorieiru ( フ ィ オ リ エ イ ル Fiorieiro , lit. Fiore (フ ィ オ エ ン) +)
Fiore outwardly looks like Ayla and Anna, the children of the Dark Tree of Peace from the first part of Sailor Moon is with us again . But there is no evidence of any connection with them.
The adult Fiore in the Japanese version was voiced by Hikaru Midorikawa , and Fiore in childhood - by Tomoko Maruo .
Xenian ( キ セ ニ ア ン Kisenian ) flower plays the role of one of the main villains in Sailor Moon R: The Movie. His name reflects the term botany “xenia”, which, according to the Great Soviet Encyclopedia, is the term for a special case of hybridization , when “seeds or fruits differ from other seeds or fruits of the same plant in color, shape, size or other characteristics.” The word itself is based on the Greek concept of hospitality [2] .
Xenian flower must destroy planets and stars in order to survive. Alone, she has no strength. She needs a “guest”: preferably someone with a vulnerable heart. The moon calls the Xenian flower “the most dangerous flower in the universe,” and Artemis says that the flower has already destroyed hundreds of planets.
Having chosen his victim, the flower begins to arouse hatred in her weak heart. After some time, he becomes powerful enough, collecting energy through his "guest" to destroy an entire planet. And then the flower destroys the star or planet, and then begins to wait for a new victim.
In the original version of the anime, the flower was voiced by Yumi Tom .
Criticism
Some readers felt that “Sailor Moon R The Movie” was an ideal introduction to “Sailor Moon”, [3] and the plot is the best of all three films “Sailor Moon”, [4] at the same time, one of the critics noted that it’s more of a “continuous long series” than a film. [5] Another critic did not agree with this, saying that, despite the similarity of the film in construction with any of the anime series, it has "real drama and emotions." [6] The directing work of Ikuhara, as well as the graphics of the film, was highly appreciated. [7] [8] Drazin believes that the opening flashback is “a reminder of Francois Truffaut .” [9]
Make up! Sailor Senshi
In Japanese cinemas, a trailer was shown before the movie: a 15-minute movie called Make Up! Sailor Senshi . [10] Usagi and Baby are eavesdropping on two girls talking about warriors in sailor suits after they see the poster. While they are discussing which of the warriors is the smartest, most elegant, strongest and who is the leader of the warriors, Usagi assigns all these titles to himself. Baby shakes her head, dispelling her illusions. Clips appear with the moments of the first appearance of each of the warriors and with the image song of the warrior as background music. When even Tuxedo Mask was already mentioned, and the talking girls were about to leave, Usagi jumps out and directly asks about Sailor Moon. The girls give a series of fervent compliments to Sailor Moon, but, unlike what they talked about other warriors, they list her flaws as well. After the girls leave, Usagi sarcastically apologizes that she is such a clumsy crybaby and bursts into a waterfall of tears.
The poster, which was examined by the girls, uses the graphics from the film’s advertisement with a new background and without a logo.
Books
A graphic album was released for the film ( ISBN 957-796-879-1 ). The first part consists of a retelling of the plot, accompanied by a large number of frames from the film. In the second part, there is information about the creation of the film, draft sketches and appeals from the creators. In addition, an animebook ( ISBN 4-06-324557-8 ) [11] , a colored manga illustrated with frames from the film, was released.
