History
Since ancient times, the land where the Rudakinsky district is now located is where people lived, the main occupation of which was animal husbandry and agriculture. In different eras, the local land and its population were part of Sogdiana , Bactria , the Sassanian state , the Kushan kingdom , the Samanid emirate (9th-10th centuries) , the Gaznevidian sultanate (10th-12th centuries) , the Mongolian empire , the Temuri empire , the Sheybanids and the Bukhara emirate ( XVIII-early XX century) .
Historical and archaeological complexes dating back to the 9th-12th centuries were revealed on the territory of the region: Chorgultepa and Tojhon, including the villages of Chorgultepa, Oli Somon, Obi Shifo, Kuktosh, Kariai Kamar and Bachamazor; Guliston - with the villages of Mavlavi, Sabzikor, Tezgar, Falacon; Rohati - with Machiton, Nilkon, Teppai Samarkand, Simigandzh villages; Chorteppa - with the villages of Kampir-Kala, Shaynak, Morteppe, Chorteppa; Esanboy - with the villages Namozgoh, Bibikhuram, Khoja-Tutbulok, as well as Kalay-Kofarnikhon [5] .

Then, as a result of the national-territorial delimitation carried out in Central Asia , in 1924 the Tajik Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic was formed as part of the Uzbek SSR .
On September 17, 1927, after the administrative-territorial demarcation , the Lokai district was formed as part of the Hissar province of the Tajik Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic . This initial name of the administrative unit of the young republic reflected the self-names of the indigenous peoples living within the region — the Lokaians .
However, on August 29, 1932, pursuant to the Resolution of the CEC of the Tajik SSR, the name Lokaysky district was abolished, and the geographical name of the regional center - toponym Koktash was used in its new name, the district acquired the name Koktash district of the Stalinabad region of the Tajik SSR .
April 22, 1970 in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the founder of the first in the world history of the socialist state V.I. Lenin on the basis of the Decree of the RIC district, the administrative unit was named Leninsky district.
- Recent history
On September 9, 1991, after the adoption at the session of the Supreme Council of Tajikistan of the Statement and Decree “On the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan” , the former name - the Tajik Soviet Socialist Republic was abolished, the new state was named the Republic of Tajikistan (RT) .
At the same time, the Leninsky district retained its status as a district of republican subordination within the Republic of Tajikistan.
