The large anti-submarine ship "Dexterous" , also known as the destroyer "Ranjit" ( Hindi भारतीय युद्ध पोत रणजीत , Eng. Ranjit ) - project 61-ME ship ( NATO code - "Kashin-II class", also known as "Rajput") , built in 1970-1980 in the USSR by order of the Indian government. Since 1981, the large anti-submarine ship (BOD) was part of the USSR Navy , and in 1983 it was transferred to India and became part of the Indian Navy as a destroyer .

History
June 29, 1977 BOD project 61-ME "Artful" was laid down at the shipyard them. 61 Kommunara in Nikolaev under the serial number 2203.
October 30, 1981 "Dexterous" was added to the lists of ships of the Navy of the USSR . June 16, 1979 - launched, and July 20, 1983 went into operation, temporarily joining the Red Banner Black Sea Fleet [3] .
November 24, 1983 "Dexterous" was expelled from the Soviet Navy and transferred to India, where it was renamed and reclassified as destroyer "Ranjit".
In the spring of 2007, the destroyer participated in a joint simbex training with the Singapore Navy near Port Blair . In the same year, he participated in joint exercises with the United States ( English Malabar 2007 ), providing for aggressive maneuvers to obstruct enemy operations and the operation “visit, board, search and capture” (VBSS, from English Visit, Board, Search and Seizure ) [4] , with the Navy of China and Russia (Indra-2007) [5] .
