Biography
The son of a textile entrepreneur, Fritz Honegger graduated from school and university in Zurich . There he received a doctorate in economics. In 1944, he became secretary at the Zürcherischen Seidenindustrie-Gesellschaft, and since 1961 he has been President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Zurich.
His political career began in 1957 , when Honegger was elected to the Zurich Cantonal Council (until 1975 ). From 1958 to 1966 he served as mayor of Rüshlikon . In 1967 - 1977 was a member of the Council of cantons of the Swiss Parliament. He also led the Radical Democratic Party from 1974 to 1978 . December 7, 1977 in the first round, was elected to the Swiss Federal Council.
