Horgosh

Horgos ( Serb. Horgos , Hungarian. Horgos ) is a village in Serbia , in the Kaniza community, in the North Banat region of the autonomous region of Vojvodina , in the historical and geographical region of Banat . According to the 2002 census of Serbia, 6325 residents lived in the village (according to the 1991 census - 7201 inhabitants).

Horgos is located near the border with Hungary. The village is famous for the production of ground pepper, called by Serb. Horghosh .

Content

History

Until 1918, Horgos belonged to the Hungarian committee of Chongrad . After the defeat of Austria-Hungary in World War I in 1918 , the southernmost part of the Chongrad committee (around Horgos) was transferred to the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (since 1929 - Yugoslavia ). The rest remained in the Hungarian Republic, forming the Chongrad County . This section was confirmed by the terms of the Treaty of Trianon in 1920 .

Demographics

According to the 2002 census, 5043 adult residents lived in the village of Khorgosh, with an average age of 40.2 years (38.1 years for men and 42.1 years for women). There are 2439 households in the village, and the average number of residents in households is 2.59.

According to the results of the last three censuses, a decrease in the number of inhabitants is observed.
