Amiga 3000

The Amiga 3000 was released on April 24, 1990 (at the same time the Amiga 1500 and Amiga 2000 / Amiga 2500 were produced). This computer was aimed at the Hi-End solutions market and really represented a quantum leap (in comparison with the released models). Commodore Corporation decided to position the Amiga 3000 as an AWP for creating high-quality graphics. The workstation was produced in 1992 , and became especially popular in the so-called W-industry as the basis for creating your own high-performance virtual machines . Probably, the slogan appeared at the same time: “Only Amiga Makes It Possible!” ( (Eng.) , “Only Amiga Makes It Possible!”). We are talking about the fact that with the advent of the Amiga 3000 , the world's first emulators of fundamentally different computer platforms are available to everyone. These emulators can run in a pre-emptive AmigaOS multitasking environment in real time, and even run simultaneously.

The Amiga 3000 was equipped with an MC68030 processor with a frequency of 16 or 25 MHz, as well as a mathematical coprocessor of the corresponding frequency (MC68881 or MC68882). Kickstart was updated to version V36 and was now loaded from the hard drive (similar to the Amiga 1000 , where Kickstart was loaded from a floppy disk). The operating system (AmigaOS 2.0-2.4) fully supported the new features provided by the ECS chipset . The built-in flicker suppressor in interlaced video modes ( Flicker fixer based on the Amber chip) has allowed the use of new and increasingly widespread VGA monitors (in addition to monitors manufactured specifically for Amiga ). There are 4 slots of the new, more efficient Zorro III bus, as well as two 16-bit ISA slots (connected in series, in line with the Zorro III slots). The Amiga 3000 system unit took into account errors made during the design of the Amiga 1000 and Amiga 2000 (in the desktop version). Commodore Named New ST / Amiga Format Case.

A version of the Amiga 3000UX was also produced, which was distinguished by a nameplate on the case and a second OS (in addition to AmigaOS), which came with a PC - AT&T Unix System V (SVR4) . This made it possible to provide users with standard UNIX graphical interfaces : X Window System and OPEN LOOK . Added to this are network capabilities such as the TCP / IP stack , NFS and RFS .
