Biography
Grigorie Diniku was born in Bucharest into a family of hereditary gypsy musicians. Entered the Bucharest Conservatory , where he studied at the violin with D. Kyriak. The most famous of his teachers was Karl Flush , a teacher with whom he studied since 1902 . After graduating from the conservatory, he played with the Orchestra of the Ministry of National Education, and also often performed as a soloist. For forty years, from 1906 to 1946, he led popular music concerts. He also traveled abroad (England (1928), France (1929, 1937), USA (1939)) as a soloist and conductor of his orchestra of folk instruments ( taraf ), created by him in 1906. Diniku also played a lot of light popular music in nightclubs, hotels, restaurants, and cafes in Bucharest and throughout Western Europe. At the same time he performed with the academic repertoire - as a soloist and as concertmaster of the Pro-Arte Conservatory Orchestra, led by George Kocha .
Dinik owned music works that have received wide acclaim. His music is written mainly for violin and piano, although the famous Staccato Choir was later adapted for other instruments (for violin and orchestra, for trumpet and piano, orchestral arrangement by Pancho Vladigerov , etc.). Other works by Dinicus: Hora spiccato (strong chorus), Hora de concert (concert choir), Hora mărţişorului (martsishor, literal translation from Romanian “a little bit of March”), Hora de la Chiţorani, Hora Expoziţiei de la Pari, Improvisation a la Dinicou , Orientale a-la tzigane and Sârba lui Tanţi (sherba - Romanian folk dance).
