SpreadMeet all the world. Regional fauna (2016): Costa Rica (more than 400 species), Hungary (328), China (316), Russia (293), USA (284), Germany (249), ..., Ukraine (149), Moldova (113 ), Kazakhstan (112) [3] .
BiologyMost species are parasitic Lepidoptera butterflies (more than 3,500 host species are known) [2] .
ValueSpecies of the genera Apanteles , Cotesia and Microplitis are used in the biological control of pests.
ClassificationOne of the largest subfamily Braconids. More than 60 genera and more than 2000 described species are known. The total number of species is estimated at 5,000-10,000 and up to 46,000 [2] [4] [5] . This is one of the richest species in the subfamily parasitic equestrians in general [6] . Mason (Mason, 1981) and Tobias (1988) consider the Cardiochilinae and Miracinae taxa as separate subfamilies, rather than tribes of the Microgastrinae subfamily, as previously thought.
There are 4 tribes:
- Triba Apantelini
- Childbirth: Alphomelon , Apanteles , Dolichogenidea , Exoryza , Illidops , Pholetesor , Promicrogaster ...
- Triba Cotesinii
- Genera: Cotesia , Deuterixys , Diolcogaster , Distatrix , Glyptapanteles , Parapanteles , Protapanteles , Protomicroplitis , Rasivalva ...
- Triba Microgastrini
- Births: Choeras , Hypomicrogaster , Microgaster , Pseudapanteles , Rhygoplitis , Sathon , Xanthomicrogaster ...
- Triba Microplitinii
? Mirax ( Miracinae ), Mesocoelus .
