Morphology

A small plant 5-20 cm tall, with a leafless, rarely single-leaf simple stem .

The leaves are concentrated at the base of the stem , petiolate , the plates are simply and twice pinnate, with leathery dark green, shiny leaves on top.

Flowers in a simple, rarely barely branched racemes , 1.5-8 cm long, drooping. Stamens filaments thin, filiform. The stigma of the ovary is dark purple. Tepals reddish-brown, 2-3 mm long and 1-1.75 mm wide, elliptical, obtuse. Flower formula :∗Pfour-fiveA∞G∞ {\ displaystyle \ ast P_ {4-5} \; A _ {\ infty} \; G _ {\ infty}}   [2] .

Fruitlets 2-3 mm long, oblong-ovate, weakly curved, ribbed, almost sessile.

Spread

It is found in Northern Europe , the Caucasus , Central Asia , Altai , Siberia , the Far East , the Himalayas , Mongolia , and North America .

It grows in tundra and alpine meadows , on the banks of mountain streams, on rocks and moraines near glaciers . In Altai, it is often found on the Korgon, Terektinsky, Katunsky, Simultinsky, Kurai, Chui, Silyugemsky squirrels, on the Ukok plateau and in the headwaters of the Chui River.

Human use

In ornamental gardening is used to create alpine slides. Requires excellent drainage with normal moisture and good lighting.

Chemical Composition

Grass and rhizome contain alkaloid gernandezin.

Medical Use

Medicinal raw material is the aerial part of the plant, harvested during the flowering period.

In folk medicine, the herb is used in certain skin diseases, as well as in epilepsy , diarrhea , jaundice , malaria , and pulmonary tuberculosis (Fruentov, 1974) [ clarify ] .

Kamchadals drink the broth of the aerial part in pulmonary tuberculosis and other bronchopulmonary diseases (Efremova N. A., 1967) [ clarify ] . Udegei apply it as an expectorant, antitussive, anti-inflammatory agent (Vostrikova G. G., Vostrikov L. A., 1971) [ clarify ] .
