Within the city of Severouralsk, Vagran flows through an artificial reinforced concrete channel with gently sloping shores, allowing you to approach directly to the water. A parallel reinforced concrete channel with a lock system was also built parallel to the main channel. The whole complex (artificial riverbed, understudy, lock structures) was created in the 60s of the 20th century and is a unique hydraulic structure to prevent water from entering underground bauxite mines located in the vicinity of the city.
The shores of Wagran are mostly wooded and swampy. Limestone caves and bizarre limestone formations often form on rocky shores.

Etymology
The origin of the name remains unclear. There are several suggestions. First: the name comes from the Russian word " cupola " - a stove, since there are many caves along the banks of the river that look like stoves of a cupboard. The second opinion allows us to propose an etymology from the Russian language, in which there is the verb “vargyns” with the meaning “seethe,” “bubble”. The form "harp" can be considered as the formation of the participle from this verb with the suffix -an-. In this case, the meaning of the place name “Bubbling” is usual for a river, the upper reaches of which are located among the mountains. Third, the most probable assumption: the word came from the language of the indigenous people of Mansi , namely from the words “agyr” (whirlpool, whirlpool) or “varginy” (seething, bubbling). [four]
