Biography
Born in the family of a clergyman. In 1981 he graduated from high school, and in 1983 - the technical school of Ryazan. From May 1983 to June 1985 he served in the Armed Forces .
After being discharged into the reserve for a year, he was a cell-maker with Archbishop Simon , administrator of the Ryazan Diocese . In 1986 he entered the Moscow Theological Seminary , at the end of which he continued his studies, entering the Moscow Theological Academy . In 1994, he successfully graduated from the Academy with a thesis in the Department of Church Archeology, on April 10, 1994, MDA rector and Bishop of Dmitrov, Filaret was ordained to the rank of deacon , and on May 29, 1994 he was ordained a priest .
From August 16, 1994 to the present, he is the rector of the Cathedral of Boris and Gleb in Ryazan .
In 1995, Nikolai Sorokin was confirmed as the director of the Orthodox gymnasium opened in Ryazan and remained in this post until 2003.
In August 2003, by decree of the managing director of the Ryazan diocese, Archbishop Pavel Sorokin was appointed rector of the Ryazan Theological College.
On August 17, 2004, the Theological School was transformed into a seminary . By the decision of the Holy Synod of October 7, 2004, Archpriest Nikolai Sorokin was approved by the rector of the Ryazan Orthodox Theological Seminary .
In January 2009, he was a member of the Local Council of the Russian Orthodox Church .
Rewards
Nikolai Sorokin was awarded both government and church awards:
- Medal of the Order for Merit to the Fatherland, 2nd class;
- medal “For the construction of the Baikal-Amur Railway” ;
- Medal of St. Sergius of Radonezh , 2nd degree;
- medal sign "For the sacrificial service."
In 1995, he was elevated to the rank of archpriest with the laying on of a pectoral cross . In 1997 he was awarded the right to wear a club . In 2000, he was awarded the right to wear a cross with ornaments, and in 2002 was awarded a miter .
