Lati (lati, and poong, tho den, and mia, sa; self-designation - kute ) is the Kadai people living mainly in the provinces of Laokai and Hatuen in northern Vietnam and southern China . They speak the Lati language , which belongs to the branch of the Kadai languages (Leskinen 1999: 295).

Traditional chores
Manual slash-fire and irrigated arable farming ( cotton , indigo , rice , corn ) is the main occupation. From handicrafts, agricultural implements and weaving are developed (Leskinen 1999: 296).
Traditional Dwellings
Lat settlements are scattered mainly at the foot of the mountains. Pile-above-ground dwellings (part of the house on the ground, part on piles), with a gable roof, rectangular (Leskinen 1999: 296).
Clothing
Men's Clothing
Lati men wear pants and robes with fasteners on the left side.
Women's clothing
Lati's traditional women's clothing is a robe girdled with a wide color belt, trousers, and an ornate breastplate (Mukhlinov 1977: 75).
Food
Rice, vegetables are the staple food (Leskinen 1999: 296).
Organization Form
The main form of organization of society is the neighborhood community. The kinship account is patrilineal, patrilocal marriage, a small family. Levirate is prohibited, but litter is allowed (Leskinen 1999: 297).
Cults
Traditional cults - ancestors and agrarian. Folklore is rich: myths about the origin of life on Earth, ethnogenetic legends, song and music (Leskinen 1999: 297).
Language
The languages spoken by this archaic society are divided into two subgroups: lilacua and lati-kelao, which together form a group of Kadai languages (Benedict 1942: 579).
