The game is based on the comic book series of the same name , the plot of which is much different from the generally accepted one. The game itself is also built in the manner of a comic book: game videos are made in the style of a comic book, and the game itself uses the " self-shading " technology, which makes the picture in the game also resemble a comic book.

Story
Peter Parker and Eddie Brock have been friends since childhood. Their fathers worked on the Venom project, an organic substance that can cure people of cancer. However, the project was not completed. Peter decides to steal him to complete the job, but the substance accidentally hits him, giving him new strength. Unfortunately, the costume turns out to be uncontrollable and nearly kills Peter. When Eddie finds out about the deeds of a friend, he applies the substance on himself, forming a Venom. Venom tries to kill Peter, but he manages to escape. Venom disappears.
Three months pass. Peter continues to live his life, forgetting about Venom. However, the monster did not disappear without a trace, but only hid. All this time he attacked lonely passers-by and robbers. Once he breaks into a bar where he meets Wolverine, and defeats him. When Parker saves the city from Rhino, a huge robot-rhino, he feels an inexplicable headache, but refers to fatigue. That night, mercenaries led by Sylvia (Silver Sable) try to catch Eddie, but to no avail. Finally, the next day, Peter again feels a headache. This time the reason appears itself - Venom. The battle ends with Brock being taken by the people of Sable. Peter decides to check why he is in pain when approaching Eddie. The result is frightening: in the blood of Peter is part of Venom, since the DNA of Peter’s father was used to create it, which somehow brings together the substance and Peter.
At this time, Eddie falls into the hands of Bolivar Trask, who wants to get Venom. He's doing an Eddie test with Electro. Venom defeats the villain and returns to Trask. Meanwhile, a new villain appears - the Beetle, which for some reason steals a test tube with the sandman’s blood. Peter is chasing him. Tracks lead to the Embassy of Latvia. Eddie tells Trask about some connection between the costume and Spider-Man, which brings them to Peter Parker. Sable carries Brock to capture Parker, but he uses Venom, who organized a whole chase of mercenaries and helicopters after him, but Brock leaves anyway. That night, Peter heads for the embassy where the Beetle has hidden. However, instead of the Beetle, the Green Goblin attacks Parker. Peter manages to defeat the mutant. But the Beetle also did not disappear. Venom overtakes him and defeats.
The next day, Silver Sable attacks Peter and tries to get him to Trask. Peter gets into a fight with her, which almost leads to a series of tragedies. Peter and Sylvia join forces, but when the townspeople are rescued, Sable shoots darts at him with a tranquilizer. After this, Sable is abducted by Venom, and Peter goes to rescue her. In the end, Peter and Venom fight again, but both Venom and Parker are "on the ground": the first - from the fight itself, the second - from a huge dose of Sobol's tranquilizers. While Eddie is in his "cage", Peter becomes a victim of the experience that forms Carnage. Using Venom, Eddie defeats the monster and swallows it, receiving the missing piece of gene material from Peter, which allows Eddie to control the costume. Now his goal is Trask.
Peter is trying to learn from Bolivar everything about his father, but Venom is stopping him. Trask tries to fly away by helicopter, but Venom catches him earlier and tries to kill him. Peter manages to fight with Venom and defeat him. Now he found out the truth: substance from the very beginning was an unsuccessful experiment. Brock's father was instructed to destroy the experiment, but he left the ampoule to himself, which he used. The result is a plane crash on which almost no one survived (Peter’s mother died in an ambulance). Peter decides to show Eddie’s files, but he’s not.
Last shots: Eddie finds Trask in prison and deals with him, Peter and Mary Jane talk about what happened together, and again Eddie wakes up from a trance (possibly a dream) and goes somewhere.
