Start of the path

Walter Casper was born on March 3, 1933 in Heidenheim an der Brenz ( German: Heidenheim an der Brenz ), Rottenburg-Stuttgart Germany diocese . He graduated from the seminary in Tübingen ( philosophy and doctoral theology ) and the seminary in Munich ( theology ).

Casper was ordained priest on April 6, 1957 in Rothenburg by the local Bishop Karl Joseph Leiprecht. In 1957 - 1958 - Vicar of the Parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Stuttgart . From 1958 to 1961, he taught at the Theological Seminary of Tübingen and was an assistant to professors Leo Scheffchik (the future cardinal ) and Hans Küng . Resignation
