Differences from the Pentax S predecessor camera
The camera was equipped with an updated kit lens : “Auto-Takumar 55mm 1: 1.8”, which could iris automatically.
The innovation allowed focusing with an open aperture, which simplified the task (especially in low light conditions).
It was assumed that after manual installation of the diaphragm, the latter was opened by the photographer using a special lever, and when the shutter was released, the camera automatically closed it to a preset value.
The camera shutter of this model could work out the shutter speed in 1/1000 sec. Otherwise, there were no changes in the shutter. still installed a pair of disks.
Long (1/30, 1/15, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1 s) and T were set by the head on the front of the camera (in the future this place became a classic for self-timer), and short (1/1000 , 1/500, 1/125, 1/60, 1/30 s) and B - the head on the top panel. To work with one of the heads, the second had to be moved to position “30”.
For the first time, the focusing screen for the company was equipped with a circle with microprisms [4] .
For the rest, the camera completely repeated its predecessor: it had protection against double exposure of the frame, the mechanical focal shutter with a horizontal stroke of the fabric shutter was cocked by a lever borrowed from Asahi Pentax . A pair of sync contacts FP and X have also been preserved.
Compatibility
Asahi Pentax K is compatible with any lens with M37 × 1 thread (using an adapter) or M42 × 1 with a 45.5 mm working distance.
