Banjars (also banjara , lambara , lambadi ) - a gypsy group in India, distributed in Rajasthan , Madhya Pradesh , Maharashtra, Karnataka and some other states of India. About half of the banjars speak the Lambadi language, one of the Rajasthan dialects of the Hindustani , the rest speak the languages that dominate the states where they live. Often mistakenly called “Indian Gypsies,” in view of the traditionally nomadic lifestyle.
