People's Artist of the Armenian SSR (1935). Laureate of the Stalin Prize of the second degree (1941). In 1966, the name of A. Bek-Nazaryan was assigned to the “ Armenfilm ” film studio.

Content

Biography

Since 1914, he was an actor in the movie studio of G. Libken in Yaroslavl , and since 1915, of the Joint-Stock Company Khanzhonkov and Co. and Biofilm (Biochromfilm).

He was engaged in the French wrestling , performed under the pseudonym AMO Exotic, participated in international sports tournaments.

During the First World War, he became famous as the "star" of Russian silent cinema (starred in more than 70 films).

In 1918 he graduated from the Moscow Commercial Institute (before entering the institute he was a professional athlete).

In 1920-1921, he was an actor of the Musical Section of the Moscow City Council, the Kharkov People’s House and the Tiflis Drama Theater .

Since 1921 - the creator and head of the cinema section of the People's Commissariat of Georgia (later - the State Committee for Industry of Georgia ).

Creator of the first feature film of the Armenian cinema " Namus " ( 1925 ).

  • In 2000, a postage stamp of Armenia dedicated to Bek-Nazarov was issued.
  • In 2012, the festival " Kinosen- 2012" was dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the director [3] . It began with the screening in Armavir of the first Armenian sound film “ Pepo ”, shot by Bek-Nazarov in 1935 . Within the framework of the “Cinema Falls”, the “Unknown Amo Beknazaryan” scientific conference was held at the Institute of Theater and Cinema, during which film experts and several university students and graduates made presentations. Also in the Yerevan cinema "Nairi" a series of screenings of famous and unknown films of the director was held [4]
