The size is small (1-2 mm). They have false eyes (no real eyes), which are located on the surface not only of the head, but also on the chest and abdomen. The sensory antenna organ on the 3rd segment of the antennae is complex, consists of protective and sensory structures. Antennae short, 4-segmented. The head is prognathic. The jumping fork is usually reduced [1] [2] .
Classification
About 500 species and 50 genera are known, including the genus Protaphorura (127 species), Deuteraphorura (71 species), Onychiurus (41 species), and half of the genera are monotypic. [3] Collembolas of the Onychiuridae family belong to the superfamily Onychiuroidea from the suborder Poduromorpha (or order). [four]
