Hypogastruridae (lat.) - a family of collembolas from the superfamily Hypogastruroidea ( Poduromorpha ).

Description

Painted in gray-black and bluish-violet colors. Segments of the abdomen and chest without traces of fusion, pronounced tergal tergite . The number of eyes varies from 3 (sometimes 0) to 8. Some are harmful in greenhouses. Cave species are known ^[1] .

Classification

About 660 species and 45 genera are known ^[2] . The Hypogastruridae family belongs to the superfamily Hypogastruroidea from the order Poduromorpha ^[3] . Several fossil species are known: Hypogastrura intermedia , Hypogastrura protoviatica ^[4] . For the fauna of the USSR, 8 genera and more than 80 species were indicated ^[1] .
