Story

The game continues the plot of the film . Wesley, learning the truth about the brotherhood, left him. He is tormented by nightmares in which a killer kills his mother. But one night the commandos climb into his house. Wesley falls into the foot of the squad leader, but he manages to escape. Killing others, he catches up with the commander and kills him. Suddenly, Wesley is attacked by one of the Brotherhood - Aranya. She shows the cloth of the loom, on which, apparently, was the name of Wesley, which means his death. Aranya tries to kill Wesley, but she is scared away by Pekwarski, a former friend of Wesley's father. He tells Wesley that people from the Brotherhood are hunting him.

Further events are transferred to the past. Cross and his wife run away from people from the Brotherhood. While Alice runs away with Wesley’s newborn, Cross shoots out the Brotherhood. They reach the end of the castle. But then another killer shoots Alice. Alice asks Cross to take care of their son. Cross takes Wesley and jumps from the tower wall.

Wesley learns the name of the killer - Immortal. He goes to the old building (which he defeated in the film). There he meets a Russian who was looking for the body of Fox. Wesley kills him. On the Russian hand, he notices a certain code in the form of a tattoo. Wesley cuts off the Russian hand and brings it to Pekvarsky. He tells Wesley that this code indicates that the Russian is a guard. One guard is taken from the three Brotherhoods to transport the Machine of Fate.

Cross goes to one of the planes that the Immortal captured. He kills his people and reaches the cockpit. But the Immortal has already killed the pilot, and the last parachute is with him. He tells Cross, that if Alice had not become pregnant from him, she would have been alive. He shows Cross the bullet with the name of his son. The plane begins to fall, but Cross manages to get to the end of the plane and climb into the car on which he jumps out of a burning plane.

Wesley sets off for Chicago to kill another guard. But Aranya notices Wesley and the bullet flies past Brumel (one of the guards). Wesley runs after him through the offices. In the end, Brumel was no longer about to run. He decides to kill Wesley for fun. But everything turns out quite differently. Wesley defeats Brumel and cuts off his hand. Still alive, he asks Wesley about the time. It turned out that the building is mined. Wesley, fighting off the people of the Brotherhood, runs away from the burning building. He brings Pekvarski's hand, but notices that he is hiding something.

Cross returns to the Brotherhood headquarters. There he meets Sloan, who says that he has problems. Cross arranges a shootout, during which he gets to the main hall. There he learns that he is now a target for the Brotherhood. Cross destroys the headquarters and runs off the train. Immortal leaps after him. Cross spins the bullet and hits the Immortal in the gun barrel. The gun explodes and tears apart the face of the Immortal, who falls from the train.

Wesley gets an assassin jumpsuit and sets off for the mountains. There he finds Aranyu and takes part of the code. On it, he goes to France. There he goes to the catacombs under the city where the tombs of the Brotherhood are located. There he finds the tomb of Cross and takes the "Fire Eaters" - a pair of pistols CZ-75 FA (FA = Full Automatic - fully automatic)

Then, he goes to the old church, towering above the city. Immortal is hiding at the very top of the tower. Wesley finds him. The Immortal tells him that since Alice violated the Brotherhood code by giving birth to Wesley, Cross personally killed her. Wesley enters into battle with the Immortal. Despite his superiority, the Immortal does not live up to his name. He claims that Wesley knows only part of what he has. To which Wesley replies that he is "just a guy with a gun and a stylish suit." After examining the sleeve, he finds there sewn fabric with his name. After that, he fires a bullet at the head of the Immortal. In the PC version, the ending is slightly extended, where it can be seen that Wesley did not kill the Immortal, but specifically missed to urinate on him.

Gameplay

The gameplay in this game has a number of differences from traditional shooters. There are several additional features of the gameplay:

  • Shooting on a horizontal parabola (spinning a bullet along an arc) for this, one division of the adrenaline scale is used. At the time of using this function, a red arc appears, with an optimal angle of fire it becomes white - you can shoot.
  • In some special moments of the game, time slows down a lot, and they give you a couple of seconds to shoot, and you also have to shoot bullets flying in your direction. Consumes the entire adrenaline scale.
  • Slowing down time - Wesley or Cross jumps out from behind cover and at that moment the time literally stops for 3-5 seconds, at which time you can kill up to 4 enemies. This takes two divisions of adrenaline.

“Explosive kill” - when shooting at a horizontal parabola with two hands for Cross (and later for Wesley), the enemies explode. Deals a lot of damage, the radius is quite large.

  • Also, with the help of cheat codes, it is possible to open a variety of game modes, such as "Close combat" (the level is not considered completed if you do not kill a certain number of enemies with a knife). There is also the opportunity to play for other characters: Aranya, Janice, Russian, airplane guard, etc.

Characters

  • Wesley Gibson is the protagonist of the game. The illegitimate son of Cross. Wesley was an eternal loser: the authorities mocked, the girl cheated with her best friend, and Wesley himself was cowardly and could not defend his point of view. But when he falls into the Brotherhood, everything changes dramatically. He becomes more solid and confident. In addition, Wesley has special abilities when he has increased adrenaline. But after learning the truth about the Brotherhood, he leaves him, which the Brotherhood just did not leave.
  • Cross is a character available to play in some episodes. Wesley's father and one of the best assassins of the Brotherhood. But he violates the code by the fact that Alice gives birth to a son from him. However, Cross could not betray the Brotherhood, and he decided on the most terrible act - he kills Alice, and Wesley takes with him. But this did not stop the Brotherhood, which sent for him the Immortal - another elite killer. And since he is a member of the Brotherhood, he is buried in a tomb.
  • Immortal - the antagonist of the game. It was he who received the task to eliminate Cross when he violated the code. He has the same abilities as Cross and Wesley. In one of the shootings, Cross hits him right in the barrel of a gun, which makes him explode and disfigure the Immortal's face. At the end of the game, he and Wesley converge in a duel. He has a bullet on which the name of Wesley is engraved, to which it is intended.
  • Alice is Cross's wife, from whom she gave birth to Wesley. Since she was Cross's wife, Alice was hit by a brotherhood. Cross kills her to save Wesley from the Brotherhood.
  • Pekvarski is a former friend of Cross. He tells Wesley that the Brotherhood wants to kill him. Helps Wesley with information on Sentinels.

Opponents

Common

  • SWAT team members. Wesley teases them with “paddles”, as they are supposedly from the French fraternity. Light opponents.
  • Assassins in hoods are the bulk of the opponents in the game. Brotherhood members dressed in light clothing and wearing hoods. Very easy opponents.
  • Assassins with knives - the same assassins, but already armed with knives. They run screaming at Wesley, after which they try to stab him with a knife. Not a big danger. Available in two variations: in blue and red jackets. The differences between them are only in resistance to damage.
  • Snipers - members of the fraternity using sniper rifles. They, as a rule, do not move, but only sit in ambushes and shoot at the main character.
  • Strong assassins - found closer to the end of the game. Assassins dressed in raincoats and hoods. they are more tenacious than simple assassins. Of weapons use assault rifles.

Bosses

  • The captain of the SWAT squad is the first boss in the game. One of the French Brotherhood. He opens a photograph of Alice and finds a code there with the name Wesley. Wesley hits his leg, but he manages to escape. Later, he and Wesley converge in a duel. Despite his death, he manages to pass the code into the hands of the Brotherhood.
  • Russian is the second boss. He participated in the search for the body of Fox at the headquarters of the Brotherhood. Uses a shotgun and the help of other killers. He is the first guardian, as evidenced by his tattoo code, which Wesley cuts off.
  • Brumel is the third boss. He is the second guard. Wesley tried to shoot him with a rifle, but Aranya noticed him and Brumel was only injured.
  • Aranya is the fourth boss. Assassin girl, meets at the base in the mountains. She is sympathetic to Wesley, who from time to time offers her sex. She is the last "carrier" of the code. Wesley first mortally wounds her, and then she falls into the abyss.
  • Immortal - the final boss in the game. At first, Wesley thinks that he is guilty of the death of his mother, but later the Immortal himself reveals Wesley the truth. Wesley meets him at the top of the bell tower, where he fights with him. After the defeat, Wesley does not kill him, but only pees on his face.

Criticism

The game received positive reviews. Critics say that the developers managed to convey the whole atmosphere of the film and create unobtrusive gameplay with many interesting features (curvature of the movement of bullets and slowing down time). The soundtrack was also noted positively, some compositions were taken from the film. A short storyline (about 2 hours), as well as poor-quality Russian dubbing, were attributed to the shortcomings.

Immortal

In some levels beyond Cross you can see the Immortal.

In the “When the waters depart” level you can meet the Immortal twice. When Cross clears the path for Alice, you can see the Immortal coming out from around the corner and entering the door. You can’t shoot him. It can also be seen when Cross is a sniper. After Cross killed all the enemies, the Immortal enters one balcony. You can’t kill him either. After that, the Immortal kills Alice. You can also notice him when Sloan warns Cross that he has problems with the French Brotherhood, when you are given a minute to survive, you can see him on the roof. He will try to shoot you, but gradually moves away. It is also impossible to shoot him.

Characters from the movie

In the game, you can see minor characters from the film, for example, his girlfriend in the “Brothel” level as well as Janice (Wesley’s boss). They are in remote and hidden places. If you kill a character, then upon repeated passage it will not be, they can be killed once per game.

Bloopers in videos

Sometimes you can see the discrepancy between the videos and the gameplay. For example, at the “When the Water Runs Off” level, Cross kills enemies with a sniper rifle, while all the enemies are in hoods and a black jacket, and in the video he saves Alice from the commandos (although there are no commandos in this level). Similar errors are present in other videos.
