Gravatar

Gravatar (from the English. Globally recognized avatar - a globally recognized avatar ) - Web 2.0 service that allows Internet users to store their avatar on a special server. The user logs on to the central server and saves his avatar and email address there. When he leaves a comment on a site or blog that supports Gravatar and indicates his email address, on the site side an MD5 hash is calculated from the mailing address and sent to the Gravatar server, the user's avatar is returned. Thus, the Gravatar system allows you to use avatars without registering on a site or blog. [one]

Gravatar is supported by Redmine [2] , WordPress engines starting from version 2.5 [3] , W-script , Stack Overflow , Ohloh , XenForo and Battlelog sites . There are also plugins and modifications that allow you to integrate support for globally recognized avatars into systems such as MODX , Drupal , Joomla , phpBB and SMF .

The system has obvious advantages over traditional avatars (Gravatar - globally recognized avatars), in particular rating support (R, G, PG).
