Metal massacre

In 1981, Brian Slagel , the founder of Metal Blade Records, decided to publish a collection that featured “unsigned” (that is, not having a label) underground metal bands. Throughout the 80s and 90s, he continued to release new collections of this series. Metal Massacre XII was released in 1995, becoming the last release in the Metal Massacre series until Metal Massacre XIII , released 11 years later in 2006, came out. Metal Massacre XIII differs from previous editions, the main feature of which was precisely the “non-subscription” of the groups, in that it included the songs of already quite well-known bands signed to Metal Blade.
