Niele Vintsovna Ambrazaitite ( lit. Nijolė Ambrazaitytė ; February 21, 1939 - November 27, 2016 [1] ) - Soviet Lithuanian opera singer ( mezzo-soprano ). People's Artist of the USSR ( 1977 ).

Biography

Niele Ambrazaitite was born on February 21, 1939 in the village of Burokai, Kalvariysky Uyezd (or Alytus Uyezd ) of Lithuania , now - the territory of Kalvariysky self-government , Marijampolsky Uyezd (according to other sources - Lazdy district of Alytus Uyezd [2] ).

During World War II, Niyöle's parents moved to Germany , and then to Canada . She was brought up in the village by her grandmother and grandfather in the Rasein county of Lithuania. In 1948, she was deported to Siberia and returned to Lithuania only in 1956 .

In 1966 she graduated from the Lithuanian Conservatoire (now the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater ) with a degree in singing from E. Majrimaite-Dirsene.

Since 1966 - soloist of the Lithuanian Opera and Ballet Theater in Vilnius . She performed about thirty parts in operas.

She performed in concerts (more than three hundred solo), performed vocal and symphonic works.

Has toured abroad (Latvia, Estonia, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Romania, Australia, Chile, USA, Canada, Cuba, Norway, Peru).

Since 1979, she taught at the Lithuanian Conservatory (Associate Professor).

At the recording studio of Lithuanian radio, she recorded eight phonograph records .

She was elected as a deputy of the Sejm of the Republic of Lithuania of several convocations (1992–2000).

In 2005 she published a book of memoirs “The Polar Lights Above Us”, and in 2009 - a book on musical activity “Sounding Opera Claviers”.

Niele Ambrazaitite passed away on November 27, 2016 in Vilnius . She was buried in Antakalnis cemetery .
