Biography
Saint Konogan arrived in Brittany from Wales , probably as part of a group of comrades of St. Paul Aurelian . He founded a monastery near Landerneau, on the banks of Élorn , in Buzi-Konogan (Beuzit-Conogan). Tradition says that he was under the care of St. Gwenole (Gwénolé), why his veneration is especially common in Landevenek (Landévennec).
Because of his influence, he became the second or third bishop of Cornish . In 461, he took part in the cathedral in Tours under the name Venecandus, and in 468 , he took part in the cathedral in Bath under the name Albinus.
A proven healer, he gathered crowds. Chapel of St. Konogan and the eponymous cemetery on the outskirts of Quimper , the area of the green mill (quartier du Moulin Vert), recall the place where he showed his gifts, especially to relieve fever.
Honor
St. Konogan is the patron saint of the church in the former parish of Busy-Saint-Konogan (Beuzit-Saint-Conogan). Chapels consecrated in his honor are found in the villages of Beuzec-Cap-Sizun and Penhars . The chapels in the villages of Bolazec , Plomelin, and Spézet have been lost.
