Appearance History
They tried to automate the photography process for a long time. At the Photokina- 66 exhibition, Asahi Optical presented two unusual prototypes: Asahi Pentax Metalica II and Asahi Pentax Memorica . The first was equipped with an automatic aperture priority , and the second with an automatic shutter priority . When the first automated camera was prepared for mass production, preference was given to the priority of the diaphragm. So in 1971, Asahi Pentax Electro Spotmatic appeared on the domestic Japanese market. In the same year, an identical camera with the short name Asahi Pentax ES appeared for the foreign market.
Some specifications
- Excerpts worked out by an electronically controlled mechanical shutter: B , 8 [3] [2] - 1/1000 sec (stepless).
- Mechanical shutter speeds (available in manual mode): B, 1/1000, 1/500, 1/250, 1/125, and 1/60 sec.
- Shutter Speed - 1/60 sec.
- The flash can be connected with a sync cable: X and FP synchronization are available or through the “ hot shoe ”: only X-synchronization is available .
- No self-timer .
- Aperture repeater .
- With SMC Takumar lenses, metering is performed with the aperture open, transmitting a preset lens aperture value.
- With earlier lenses, metering is only performed on the working aperture, as these lenses cannot transmit the value of the preset aperture.
- Built - in TTL exposure meter ( CdS ) EV1-18.
- Exposure compensation −1 EV - + 2EV in increments of 1EV.
- Powered the camera electronics from a single 544 element (2CR, 1 / 3N). (Sequential assembly of four elements LR44 ).
- The viewfinder displays: battery status and shutter speed arrow (showed shutter speeds only in the range of 1/1000 - 1 second [6] ).
- Microprism Fresnel Focusing Screen
- Film sensitivity is entered using the ring under the rewind tape in the range of 20-3200 ASA.
- In manual mode, the camera’s electronics are turned off and no exposure tips are displayed.
- Possibility to install Asahi Pentax Motor Drive electrical tape drive.
