History
The club was founded on October 28, 1929 . Among the founders of the club was Esteban Marino, a store employee, who took out the current Serrito colors — yellow and green — for the uniform.
Serrito spent most of its history in the lower divisions. Future world champions, Ruben Moran and Hector Vilches , began to play football at Cerrito, and only then moved to Cerro . In the Second Division, Serrito made its debut in 1952.
The debut in the First (highest) division occurred in 2004 . After spending four seasons in the elite league of Uruguay, in the 2006/07 season the team returned to the Second Division. In recent years, the team has been mainly balancing between the two divisions, unable to gain a foothold in the Example. In 2015, the team flew to the Second Amateur Division, but immediately won it and from 2016 will again play in the Second Professional Division.
The most important rival for Serrito is the Rentistas Club.
