Story
In the East, the groom could not see the bride’s face before the wedding, and therefore the hero of the film, Asker, a rich young man, on the advice of his friend Suleiman, dresses up as a street cloth dealer, “arshinmalchi”. These merchants, selling goods, went into houses where women and girls, choosing and examining their fabrics, did not cover their faces. Now Asker could go into any yard and choose a bride. Facts
- The film really liked Mao Zedong , and he even ordered to shoot his version in China, which would be called “Love under the covers” (the Chinese called the veil “blankets”) [3] .
- The film went around 136 countries of the world. In the USSR alone, for one and a half months of rental, 16 million viewers watched the film.
- In 1965, the State Organization Soyuzexportkino of the USSR, given that Arshin Mal Alan in 1945, with the participation of Rashid Beibutov, brought great financial profit, ordered a new, color version of the film for the Baku film studio. Thus, the director Tofig Taghizade once again filmed this work of Uzeyir-bey Hajibeyov. His film, released in two languages - Azerbaijani and Russian , did not gain such popularity as the first, but was more perfect in terms of technical equipment.
- In 2013, on the occasion of the centenary of the operetta, the AtaHolding group of companies, together with Peachline, carried out restoration and painting of the film. And the film was presented in color. Restoration and staining was carried out by specialists from Hollywood, however, only the Azerbaijani version of the film was restored. The Russian version of the film is still black and white [4] .
