Biography

He graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of Moscow State University. M. V. Lomonosov ( 1967 ). In 1970 he defended his thesis “The Existentialism of N. Berdyaev and Modernity ” and in the same year began his work at the philosophy department of Moscow State University . Doctoral dissertation - "Religious idealism in Russia of the era of imperialism " ( 1980 ). Since 1984 - Professor . In 1986 - 1992 [1] - Head of the Department of the History of the Philosophy of the Peoples of the USSR / History of Russian Philosophy [2] .

In the 70s and 80s he published a number of his works on Marxism and religious existentialism . Since the beginning of the 90s, scientific interests have been in the field of ethics , cultural studies , psychology , anthropology, and neometaphysics; his work on secular humanism , probabilism, and selective skepticism has been published [2] . The writings of this period presented a holistic statement of the principles and values ​​of modern secular (civil) humanism .

Member of the editorial board of the journal " Revolutionary World " ( 1982 - 1984 ). Editor-in-Chief (until 1993 ) of the journal “ MSU Bulletin . Philosophy Series. Editor-in-Chief (since 1996 ) of the quarterly “ Common sense. Journal of skeptics, optimists and humanists . ” The compiler, editor and author of the preface of a number of publications of monographs of foreign scholars of the humanistic direction, as well as the editor and one of the authors of the book “History of Russian Philosophy: 10th — 20th centuries” published in English in the USA

Member of the International Humanist and Ethical Union (MGES) , Honorary President of the Russian Humanist Society (RGO) , Academician-Secretary of the International Academy of Humanism, Member of the first and second members of the Commission to combat pseudoscience and falsification of scientific research under the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences , member of the Academic Council of the Existential Psychology Institute and life creativity [3] .

He prepared 39 candidates and 3 doctors of science.
