Hans Peter Rem ( German: Hans-Peter Rehm ; November 28, 1942 , Geislingen an der Steig ) is a German chess composer .

International Grandmaster ( 1984 ) and Referee ( 1968 ) in Chess Composition . Theorist of the logical school . Editor of the three- and multi-way tasks department of the magazine Die Schwalbe (since 1978 ). The author of a number of articles on the theory and aesthetics of the chess problem .
Mathematician, in 1970 he defended his thesis on algebra [1] . He was a visiting researcher at the California Institute of Technology and worked until his dismissal in 2007 as a private assistant professor at Karlsruhe University [1] . Currently (2012) lives in Pfintstal [1] .
An excellent pianist , performed in concerts, including with the orchestra of the radio station Süddeutscher Rundfunk , as well as as part of the piano quartet [1] .
Since 1955, he published about 1000 problems, approximately two thirds of them are various types of “ fairy-tale chess ” [2] . The central place in the work is occupied by the multi-paths of the logical style. They are characterized by the efficiency of the goal of various maneuvers, which together constitute the author’s intention, as well as the completeness of the form of the compositions. At the competitions he was awarded 360 distinctions, including 103 first prizes (for 1990).
