The early years
Sim Amosov was born on August 20, 1914 in the family of the working railway depot of the Chernorechenskaya station Taras Antonovich Amosov and his wife Evgenia Emelyanovna. The girl’s grandfather, Anton Amosov, moved to Siberia from Belarus at the end of the 19th century.
In 1921, Seraphim went to school. Participated in amateur performances. Engaged in a string mug playing the balalaika. In 1929, after completing the seven-year plan, she left for Krasnoyarsk to receive a working specialty. In the same year she joined the Komsomol . Upon graduation, she received the specialty of a fourth-degree turner. Supervised pioneering work at a local school. In 1933, she was a delegate to the All-Union Conference of Pioneer Workers in Moscow .
Around the same time, the girl had a desire to become a pilot. Here is how Sim herself told her friends about this:
... There is a wonderful creation of nature in the vicinity of Krasnoyarsk - the famous "pillars" . For thousands of years, the winds have blown mountain ranges of granite. They were helped by lush streams of fast-moving Siberian rivers. And so, tall stone sculptures of a bizarre shape formed. Pillars are a favorite vacation spot for residents of Krasnoyarsk. On their steep climbs and descents, on the edges of cliffs and steeps, you can often see people in colorful tracksuits. Here they compete in agility and fearlessness.
Somehow Sima Amosova came here.
- Weak you to climb to the very top of the pillar! - Cheered up her friends.
Sima said nothing, carefully examining the peak hiding in the bluish fog. I decided to myself: “You can’t overcome it without preparation. And if you practice, you can. Together with the girls, of course. ”
The day came, and they climbed to the treasured peak. Sime had never been so high above the earth. The distant distances moved apart, the vast ocean of taiga spread out in all directions.
From here, a bird's eye view, Sima saw glades rich in lush forbs, dotted with bright dots of flowers, a bright strip of Yenisei, which became Krasnoyarsk's homeland for her. “I wish I could fly on wings, circle around the city, sing a song above it so that everyone can hear ...”
- M.P. Chechnev “My fighting friends”
The girl’s spontaneous dream has become a reality. Seraphim was admitted to the glider school of Osoaviahim . On the day of graduation, she had an accident. After recovery, she was sent to the Tambov Aviation School. In August 1936, she passed the final exams with honors and received the rank of pilot. After that, Sima Amosova returned to work in Siberia. The pilot of the Civil Air Fleet drove planes on the Moscow - Irkutsk highway.
In connection with the military situation in Western Europe in January 1941, under the control of the Civil Air Fleet, training flight squadrons began to be created, where young men of draft age were sent. Here they received basic theoretical knowledge and practical flying skills. As an experienced pilot, Amosova was appointed commander of the squadron created at the Yanaul airport in Bashkiria . There she found her war.
World War II
In the early days of the war, Serafim Amosov, like the rest of the instructors, filed a report on sending him to the front. Male pilots were enlisted in the army. Amosova was refused. The second report was also rejected, citing the fact that preparing young cadres of Seraphim would be more beneficial for the country. The girl personally handed over the third report to the Civil Air Fleet in Kazan . Soon the telegram came “To dismiss the pilot instructor Amosova S. T. from her post and send it to Major Raskova.” Seraphim immediately flew to Moscow . Together with other pilots she studied at the Engels Aviation Pilot School. Here she was accepted into the ranks of the Communist Party . At the end of her studies, she was sent to the Bershansk regiment as the commander of the first squadron. She was awarded the rank of lieutenant .
She was an excellent pilot, and immediately after being assigned to our regiment, she began to teach us how to fly in difficult conditions at night. In the comasque, we constantly felt great inner strength and endurance. She never raised her voice, never got annoyed, worked without a hustle and bustle. As soon as we arrived at the front, Amosova checked the flight qualities of each of us in the air, and when the combat mission was received, the first of the squadron, together with the navigator Larisa Rozanova, flew to its implementation. It was in the Donbass, at the turn of the Mius river.
“We approached the goal,” Amosova said after the flight. “Some strange, but surprisingly beautiful multi-color glow suddenly appeared on the ground. What kind of illumination? I wonder. “It smolders the breed,” the navigator explains.
The headquarters of the enemy, which was to strike, by calculation should already be under us. You can drop bombs, but Larisa and I doubt: why aren’t we fired from the ground? Why is there such silence? It cannot be that the headquarters was not protected by anti-aircraft artillery! Or are we wrong, and the goal is somewhere aloof? We decide to return to the checkpoint. The route map brings us there again. And again an incomprehensible silence. The flight, designed for an hour and a half, was greatly delayed. What to do? It’s better to check again. We make the third call. And we are convinced that the first time the target was found correctly. Dropped bombs, With bated breath we are waiting. There were explosions. German anti-aircraft guns fired belatedly. It turns out that the Nazis did not want to unmask themselves. And the blow was delivered exactly on target!
So the combat account of the 1st squadron was opened ...
- M.P. Chechnev “My fighting friends”
Serafima Amosova heroically proved herself in battles. In September 1942, she was among the first to receive the Order of the Red Banner . Soon she was appointed deputy regiment commander for the flight. Seraphim was considered the best pilot of the regiment.
Amosova was a model of fearlessness and self-confidence. We admired her reasonableness and composure, “Measure seven times, cut once,” she loved to repeat. For our, sometimes too ardent and reckless, youth, the balance of Amosova was a good example. Before making any decision, we tried, just like her, to think everything over, weigh it, figure it out this way and that, and only then “cut it off”.
“Exposure,” said Amosova, “is necessary in our business. Only under this condition will you be able to find a way out, perhaps the only sure way out of the most dangerous situation. ” She flew boldly, courageously and fearlessly. The personnel of our squadron believed in their commander and followed her. "Amosovskaya" combat training was famous in the regiment.
A strict commander, Serafima Amosova was at the same time a good friend, sympathetic and kind by nature, and was distinguished by her exceptional femininity.
- M.P. Chechnev “My fighting friends”
In addition to combat missions, Amosova was on duty on flights, trained newcomers who arrived, retrained navigators as pilots. In addition, there were also special tasks. She flew more than four hundred times at the front during the day, more than sixty times went in search of landing sites in the relocation areas, since special airfields were not assigned to light aircraft PO-2. It was a risky tap.
In 1943, the regiment took part in the North Caucasus , Krasnodar, Novorossiysk-Taman operations. September 16, 1943 the liberation of Novorossiysk completed the liberation of the North Caucasus . During the assault on Novorossiysk, the Amosova group made 233 sorties.
In November, girls flew over Kerch , dropped weapons and products to the Eltigen landing.
In 1944, the regiment participated in the liberation of Belarus . And since July 31, it was based in Poland. In Poland , a kind of record was set: during the night, pilots flew out on a mission an average of 16 times! The amazingly clear work of the technicians was arranged by Serafima Tarasovna.
In total, during the war years Serafima Amosova made 555 sorties. After the disbandment, the regiment was demobilized.
