The Day of the Worker of Agriculture and Processing Industry is a professional holiday for all those who work in the field of agriculture and processing industry of Russia. This date is celebrated annually, on the second Sunday of October [1] .
Holiday History
Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 679 dated May 31, 1999 established that “Day of the Worker of Agriculture and Processing Industry” is celebrated annually on the second Sunday of October [2] . From that moment, field workers and farmers, farmers, managers and specialists of agricultural enterprises, agricultural scientists, rural intelligentsia, food and processing workers have their own professional holiday.
On October 6, 2000, the President of the Russian Federation at the solemn meeting dedicated to the Day of the Worker of Agriculture and Processing Industry said the following:
Today, agriculture is becoming a profitable industry. The number of unprofitable farms has significantly decreased. We have already forgotten that once all the urban population left for seasonal work in the village. Today, not students and scientists are actively working in the village, but the labor market. This is a very strong, important sign for us. After all, agriculture is primarily a sector of the Russian economy. And he should live according to the laws of its development ... ... The history of the Russian peasantry in the outgoing century was very dramatic. The peasants survived numerous land reforms, the NEP, collectivization, the transition to new forms of rural life in the last decade. We remember those times when a villager did not even have a passport. But we cannot tear our life today from our history, from our roots, from the way of life of Russian peasants. As they say, wait for a new happiness, but do not lose the old. Therefore, our task is to preserve what is acquired, what is valuable that has been developed in the past. And move on without losing time, pace and helping each other. Once again, I congratulate you on the holiday. Be healthy and full of strength. Good luck to you and your families [3] .
