Geography
The Akhvakh region is located in the western part of Dagestan and borders: Botlikh , Khunzakh , Shamil and Tsumadin districts of the republic. The total area of the district is 196.87 km², which makes the Akhvakh region the smallest area of the republic.
History
Akhvakh district was formed in 1933 from part of the territory of the former Andean district [3] .
