The administrative center is the village of North .
Geography
The northern region is located in the north-west of the Orenburg region and borders: in the west and north-west with the Samara region , in the north and east with Tatarstan , in the south-east and south with the Abdulinsky and Buguruslan districts of the Orenburg region. The length of the region from west to east is 80 km, from north to south - 55 km. The area of the territory is 2.1 thousand km².
History
Until 1934, the territory of the current Northern region as part of various administrative entities was part of the Samara province, the Middle Volga region, the Middle Volga region. December 7, 1934 after the formation of the Orenburg region - entered into it.
In the period from 1963 to 1965, administrative-territorial changes took place in the Orenburg region and the Northern region entered: part in - Buguruslansky, and partly - in Abdulinsky. Since the second half of 1965, the Northern Region has been restored to its former borders, which still exist today. Until 1957, it was called Sok-Karmalinsky District [3] [4] .

The national composition of the population (as of 2010): Russians - 49.29%, Mordvinians - 29.8%, Tatars - 18.2%, the rest - 2.7%.

Transportation
Ufa - Samara and Bugulma - Buzuluk - Uralsk motorways of republican significance pass through the district, the length of these roads within the district is 80 km. In the north-west of the district is the station Dymka on the railway "Ulyanovsk-Ufa".
