History
Like the nearby Hovhannavank Monastery , Saghmosavank is located above a high gorge near the Kasah River. Zion Church in this monastery (1215), and St. Karapet Church in Hovhannavank (1216-1235) were founded by Prince Airarat Vache Vachutyan. They belong to the same type, having a luxurious cross and high domes. Temples have several domes, which is reflected from the outside.
