Title

The name refers to Bhutan - the country where the species Bhutanitis lidderdalii was first found, which is called the "glory of Bhutan" ( English Bhutan Glory ).

General characteristics

Wingspan 100-116 mm.

They are kept in the tops of trees , flying at a height and extremely rarely descend to the ground. The flight is slow, fluttering, smooth, with sharp changes in flight direction. The rarest species of the genus is Bhutanitis ludlowi from Bhutan .

Distribution

Distributed in South Asia and the continental part of Southeast Asia .

Butterflies live in alpine forests at an altitude of 2300-2800 m above sea level.

Reproduction

Caterpillar feed plants: genus Kirkazon - Aristolochia spp. , A. kaempferii , A. mandshuriensis, and A. griffithii .
