Alford is a city in Scotland in the Aberdeenshire region. Located on the Don River , 37 km west of Aberdeen . Not far from the city, the Battle of Alford took place ( 1645 ), one of the battles of the Civil War in Scotland . A few kilometers south of the city is Craigivar Castle .
