Green lizards ( Lat. Lacerta ) - a genus of lizards from the family of these lizards .

Large lizards: body size up to 70-160 mm. The back of adults often has a bright green background color, the belly is yellowish, and in young lizards it is white. There is sexual dimorphism in the coloring of the back.
Classification
The genus currently includes 9 species [1] [2] :
- Lacerta agilis - nimble (agile, common) lizard
- Lacerta bilineata - western green lizard
- Lacerta media - the average lizard [3] [4]
- Lacerta mostoufii
- Lacerta pamphylica
- Lacerta schreiberi - Iberian lizard
- Lacerta strigata - striped lizard
- Lacerta trilineata - three - line lizard
- Lacerta viridis - green lizard
The genus Lacerta is one of the “historical”, at different times more than 200 modern species were included in its structure [5] . During the second half of the 20th century, several new genera of true lizards were distinguished from this genus: Darevskia , Iberolacerta , Timon, and others.
